Being a little upset with the disappearance of the Stage 1 complaint which was reminiscent of the Core Assessment and most of the other communications with the Children Services Dave wrote to the local MP to update him on their continued irresponsibility and how the complaint had yet again foundered on the rocks of incompetence.

Dear Simon Marcombe

Thank you very much for contacting the Director for Children Services at the Council and requesting a full investigation.  It seemed to spark them into action after nearly a year of avoidance.

But, alas, the urgency seems to have dissipated.

For the record please find enclosed a copy of a letter I have written today to George Trevithick, the Complaints Manager at Sumshire County Council.

A full investigation is not the same as them finally dealing with my complaint.  However George Trevithick, Adrian Greenhead and myself agreed to allow Adrian to deal with this issue as a Stage 1 complaint to see if he could find a satisfactory resolution.  You, of course, would still want the results of the Director's "full investigation" into the affair.  However I suspect, from the Director's communications with you to date, that he is under the impression that dealing with the complaint is enough.  Regardless of that they have lapsed into inactivity.  The statutory guidelines for a Stage 1 complaint is that they will complete it within 10 working days.  There is a proviso that if it takes a little longer they will keep the complainant informed of progress.  But we had the meeting on the 24 August and Sal assured me he would report back within 10 working days.  We are now into October and I have heard nothing.  This is just more of the same irresponsibility.

I do not know if they think you are so busy that you will forget.  I appreciate that you have a lot of important issues to deal with but you can rest assured, and you can assure them, that I will never forget.

Yours sincerely

Dave Hook
