It is too often after you drop the letter irretrievably into the letter box that you realise what you should have said.  I knew I could think of better things to say but I had to get the job done and this is the letter that was sent.  However I would have liked to have patronizingly referred to his remarks as possibly the biggest political faux pas this century.  I would like to have suggested that because he gets away with such bullying tactics in his local social surroundings did he really think it would frighten the United Nations into submitting to his will.  But here is the letter as it was sent to Grant Shapps, the tactless bully, the genetically modified moron, the Conservative cretin himself.  Oops - Evidently I am still suffering from literary cultural Tourette's syndrome.

Dear Mr Shapps

Please find enclosed a copy of a letter I have written to my local MP, Mark Simmonds. Given that I am complaining about the remarks you made in response to the Press Release by Raquel Rolnik I thought it only reasonable to supply you with a copy.

I found your remarks worrying on two accounts. The first being that they were not reasonable, measured, accurate or fair. They were not the kind of response one expects from a responsible member of parliament let alone the Chairman of the Conservative Party. The second being that they were so derisory and personally dismissive that they amounted to bullying. We were, I thought, concerned to reduce bullying in this country and yet you were so free with your condemnation and belittlement of Raquel Rolnik and Brazil that it seems we still have a long way to go. If one doesn't understand what bullying is then there is little chance of stopping it.

Your response certainly made it look as if there was some validity in what Raquel Rolnik had to say. On that account I fear your comments have had quite the opposite effect to that which you would have desired.

Yours sincerely
