Chocolate comes from the Aztec word xocolātl which means bitter water. The Aztecs crushed the seeds from the tropical Theobroma Cacao tree and added water to produce a bitter drink. It was a bit of a sacred drink for them and they believed it made them strong for battle and good in bed.
Thorntons have been making chocolate for about one hundred years. They started in Sheffield making toffee for the steel workers and then relocated to Derbyshire where they remain today. Their reputation for toffee and chocolate is superb and they have hundreds of stores across the UK.
I can, of course, personally recommend Thorntons chocolate and if you wish to buy a close friend or a special person a gift that says how much you love them there is little better than chocolate to do the job. Thorntons sell a range of very attractive gifts for this very purpose and they will even send flowers as well.
